Feet Fettler
For this project we had to produce 6 identical “vessels.” The final vessels had to be cast using only hard materials (No silicones or rubbers).
First, my incredible technician, Caitlin, and I made a silicone cast from someone’s foot. From there, I then made positive plaster molds of the foot to make my final 5 part plaster mold from. Porcelain slip was used to slip cast the vessel. The feet have a seafood green inner and clear glaze outer.
The vessels are appropriately named “Feet Fettlers.” Fettling is a pottery process that is done to clean up rough edges or seemliness from a piece.
